We very much appreciated the review that the staff of the Round Lake Public Library took the time to write a review of our recent comic book workshop at the Round Lake Public Library! Thanks to Karan and Hannah for their kind words, which we share here in full:

The Round Lake Area Public Library recently had the pleasure of hosting Do Art Productions for their Comic Book Workshop. It was a delightful experience from beginning to end. Led by Jerry Moffitt, this workshop was highly informative and accommodated both beginners and seasoned artists alike.

The workshop kicked off with Jerry playing his guitar and chanting, encouraging attendees to draw him in “wacky” poses. This was a fantastic way to start because it made everyone more comfortable and got them ready to draw. Jerry’s passion for comic book art was infectious and in no time, everyone was engaged and enthusiastically participating in the program whether it was throwing out ideas or sharing their drawings.

One part of the workshop that was particularly appreciated was the emphasis on hands-on practice. Jerry did not bore the participants with lectures on how to draw but demonstrated, guided, and encouraged all the budding artists. He also made sure everyone was involved by borrowing ideas from participants frequently or encouraging them to use their imaginations in unique ways. Another part that was very much appreciated was asking if drawings could be shared rather than just holding them up. Not everyone wants to share their work and Jerry seemed to understand this.

With Jerry’s guidance, there was never a dull moment, and everyone seemed armed with new skills by the end of the workshop. Not only did everyone leave with new skills, but they left with swag provided by Do Art Productions and who doesn’t like some swag?

The Comic Book Workshop certainly exceeded expectations and whether you are an accomplished illustrator or a curious beginner, this workshop is perfect to explore and hone your comic book drawing skills. I highly recommend Do Art Productions and especially Jerry Moffitt!
