Paint a Drum Workshop, Birthday Party Edition

Hello to everyone out there in the Do Art Nation.  It’s been an amazing week of workshops, art, and creativity.  We continue to be amazed at the outpouring of support for what we do, as well as the incredible ways we’ve seen all of you bring creativity to enliven the world and put your unique stamp on it.

This weekend was extra exciting for us because we got to bring our Paint-A-Drum Workshop to a BIRTHDAY PARTY!  Done on  the theme of “The Ghost of the Titanic,” we are deeply thankful to the people who let us add our own Do Art flair to what was already a unique and amazing event.

I arrived with Jerry and Karen to the Lake Zurich Park District, which had been rented out for the purpose.  Everything, from the custom-made Titanic costume to the drums the kids made with paint, stickers, and googly eyes, radiated with creativity and ingenuity.

Near the end, Jerry led the kids in a drum circle, with the kids tapping out a unique rhythm while they chanted BRING THEM BACK TO LIFE, just to add a spooky touch to the fall birthday proceedings!  Jerry led the kids in a rhythmic conga line, with the kids walking around the tables and chanting BRING THEM BACK TO LIFE (an innovation of the birthday boy, who hung his own pictures of the Titanic and contributed mightily to the group painting we made together).

Jerry even had the kids add their thumbprints to a painting his aunt made of the Titanic, adding little polychrome ghosts to the canvas!  He said later that he was thrilled, and immensely grateful, that a gaggle of kids hyped up on birthday party and sugar were able to stand in line and add a special finishing touch to the afternoon.

So if you need a little more DO ART in your world, you don’t have to wait for a workshop or program.  Reach out to us and let us know that you want Do Art Productions at your next event.  Whether Comics, Painting, or unique crafts, we will add our special blend of energy and creativity, and make your event something to remember!
