Gardens in their Eyes: Jerry Shares a New Poem

We hope you’ve all had an amazing Poetry month.  As April winds to a close, we wanted to share a poem Jerry shared with some of our friends this month.

We have a group chat with our friends and family, as we share updates from Do Art as well as works of art and inspiration of all kinds.  A week ago, Jerry shared a poem he’d written. We hope that it inspires you!

There’s gardens in their eyes–
Flowers blossom within
Before they glorify the sun–
The deep grey of impatience
Hues into a deep blue
Containing flourishing shades
Of scheming hopes:
The dreams of Spring.

The talk is the same
But the words flourish
Like foliage–what was sparse
Now succumbs to the promise
Of plenty–everything is green
As beautiful assumptions bloom
From stretching smiles.

The presence of gratitude
Makes it all a miracle–
The mother muse
Of the long dark tunnel
Opening into an infinite sky–
Splashes of color before form
Tones before language–
Flowers begin to emerge
As perceptions sharpen
Into familiarity.

Like angels recollecting their levity,
Strangers and loved ones alike–
There’s gardens in their eyes
The talk is the same
The presence of gratitude.

After traversing the shiver of dearth,
Eve’s sole reaches the soft
Reassurance of moss and
Music of a promise kept–
The birds are singing
And soon mushrooms.

We give them audience.
